ABOUT ME
About
My name is Victoria. I am a mother of two with a passion for the great outdoors. Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamt about traveling and seeing nature all around the world. One of my favorite places to visit is Alaska where I am never bored. I love bears and follow the Brooks Falls bears religiously. I currently live in Atlanta, Georgia with my kids who are always excited about a new Katmai bear story. I love sharing the unique experiences Alaska has to offer and I hope that my projects will help spread the joy of these wonderful creatures and bring more awareness to the conservation efforts in Alaska.
How it got started
A few years ago, I wrote a children's book about Jolly, the daughter of Holly, and her encounter with a porcupine. I found her to be incredibly charming, and my children enjoyed envisioning Jolly's thoughts and dreams.
The journey to get my book published took longer than I thought but I learned a lot in the process. Getting a publisher and an illustrator to work with the book that is based on real events and real animals that many know, and love was a true challenge for me. But we are getting close. Fingers crossed!
Katmai Stories Project
After witnessing numerous skilled photographers and artists visiting Brooks Falls, I came up with an idea to unite their work under a single online storefront. Although I lack the talent to create my own art, I would be thrilled to possess a piece of Katmai. I intend to regularly broaden the range of products and incorporate relevant content based on the happenings at Brooks each year. For example, I would like to embrace cuteness of Grazer's cubs and devastating loss of baby Smalls.
